Proud People

We are all proud of something. In this project I ask people that I meet to close their eyes and think of something they are proud of. When they open their eyes, I press the shutter. Then I ask if they would like to share what they thought of. Most people do. Examples are: I am proud that I divorced, I am proud of my heritage, I am proud that I changed career.

For me personally, the project is also about trust. It is fascinating every time a person decides to participate in the project. It is a strong feeling to have someone standing in front of you - a complete stranger to them - with their eyes closed, sometimes for a rather long time. It gives me hope for the future.
