Photos above show persons visiting Open Mind Records in Uppsala asked to pick a favourite album and give short motivation to why they picked it. Big thanks to everyone (with Open Minds) that have picked an album. More photos will come.

Name of person : Album name - Artist (Year) : Motivation

Simon : Loveless - My Bloody Valentine (1991) : Unique sound. Good example of the Shoegaze genre. Very distorted but at the same time dreamy guitars. Perfectionists, took a long time to record.

Thomas : Gila (Free Electric Sound) (1971) : German Krautrock. Unique and coherent. An album with identity. Demands active listening. Fantastic song titles: 1. Aggression; 2. Kommunikation; 3. Kollaps; 4. Kontakt; 5. Kollektivität; 6. Individualität.

Mikael : Private Eyes - Tommy Bolin (1976) : Very competent musician. Great composer. Guitarist that never dominated, made space for others. Great singer. Played with bands like Deep Purple. Two solo albums. Died very young.

Fredrik : Double Live Gonzo! - Ted Nugent (1978) : This is the music I listened to when I grew up.

Sven-Åke : Benefit - Jethro Tull (1970) : A friend presented the album to me when I was young. That's the way it is. Would probably have picked a Gentle Giant album but could not find the right one.

Mattias : The Eagle Has Landed - Saxon (1982) : It is a live recording - that is why I like it so much. The studio albums have a 'flat' sound. Music that I grew up with. Like the Britishness; it is, for example, stated on the cover how many teabags the band used during a session.

Jenny : Urminnes Hävd - Norrlåtar (1978) : Music I grew up with. Play folk music myself (flute). The music is so 'svängig' (groovy, funky). There is so much anger in it. At the same time there is hope.

Anders : Pornography - The Cure (1982) : My brother was on a language trip to England and brought The Cure back home to me. There is so much anxiety. It is the album when The Cure peaks in anxiety. It is the ultimate gothic rock ('depprock') album.

Göran : Machine Head - Deep Purple (1972) : It was an older friend who played it for me when I was young. The music captured me immediately. It was something different and special.

Danne, proud owner of the legendary store Open Mind Records. Still thinking about what album to pick.
